TSN. Kenrich Williams Pelicans Jersey .ca presents its latest weekly power rankings for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League staff. Rankings were weighted evenly between separate lists made by TSN Radio host and soccer analyst Gareth Wheeler as well as TSN.cas soccer editors. 1. Liverpool (Last Week- 2) The 100% start is over but Liverpool still sits at the top of the table after a 2-2 draw with Swansea. Daniel Sturridge scored in his fourth straight game, though this time with a huge assist from his opponents and Victor Moses found the net in his first game with the team. Liverpool are one of two Premier League teams that have not suffered a defeat. 2. Manchester United (LW-3) The big guns were firing for the defending champions as Robin van Persie scored from the penalty spot in the first half and Wayne Rooney fired home a beautiful free-kick in the second half for a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The losing side was reduced to 10-men on the play that spawned the van Persie penalty goal. 3. Arsenal (LW- 5) Mesut Ozil made his debut and Aaron Ramsey made a statement in the Gunners 3-1 victory over Sunderland. The debut winger showed his class with an assist on the Arsenal opener and after Sunderland tied it from the spot, Ramsey scored two second half goals for the victory. 4. Tottenham (LW-6) No Gareth Bale, no problem once again for Spurs who earned a 2-0 victory over Norwich City in their first game following the big money transaction with Real Madrid. Gylfi Sigurdsson answered the call scoring on each side of the half to secure the victory. 5. Chelsea (LW-1) Samuel Etoo making his debut did little to nothing to change the fortunes of Chelsea, who lost for the first time this season, 1-0 to Everton. Chelsea looked the more active of the two squads but were not able to find an equalizer to share the points. 6. Manchester City (LW-4) Former City boss Mark Hughes almost pinned a loss on his old club but had to settle for the 0-0 draw in a game Stoke dominated. City started with Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo up front but they failed to impress in their partnership. Negredo did have a late chance but was unable to convert. 7. Everton (LW-12) There are two teams that have yet to suffer a loss in the Barclays Premier League, and thanks to a goal from Steven Naismith just before halftime of their 1-0 defeat over Chelsea, Everton is one of them. After three draws, Roberto Martinez finally has his first win in charge of Everton. 8 Stoke City (LW-7) The Potters will feel as though they should have been better rewarded for their efforts in a 0-0 draw with Manchester City. Stoke forward Jonathan Walters head wide a clear goal scoring chance early in the first half and Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic almost put the winner into his own net. 9. Newcastle United (LW-15) Things continue to improve at Newcastle after a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa. Under fire at the beginning of the season, boss Alan Pardews fortunes seem to improve with each contest. Though he didnt score, having Yohan Cabaye back in the lineup was a huge boost for the Magpies. 10. Southampton (LW-9) Still looking for their first home victory of the season, Southampton threw everything they had at West Ham but were not able to come away with anything better than a 0-0 draw. Rickie Lambert had two clear chances for his side but one hit the post and the other was well saved to protect the goose egg. 11. Cardiff City (LW-12) The Welsh side continued their mid-table existence with a 1-1 draw on the road against Hull City. Peter Whittingham evened the score for Cardiff to earn his side a hard fought road point. 12. West Ham (LW-10) Thanks to the keeping of Jussi Jaaskelainen, West Ham was able to escape Southampton with a point in a game in which they were pushed to the brink. Ravel Morrison made his first start for the Hammers and the 20-year-old showed promise they hope to cash in on going forward. 13. Swansea City (LW-14) What a game, or at least opening five minutes, it was for former Liverpool man and current Swan Jonjo Shelvey. After opening the scoring in the second minute against his former team, he made a horrendous back pass mistake to allow Daniel Sturridge to pot the equalizer. He also picked up an assist on what would be the tying goal from Michu in a 2-2 draw. 14. Aston Villa (LW-11) Villa slumped to their third straight loss this season with a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle. Christian Benteke scored an equalizing goal but the stalemate only lasted for six minutes before they conceded the winner. 15. Norwich City (LW-Cool Norwich never really looked to be part of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham. Only the play of keeper John Ruddy and work from the back-line kept the defeat from being worse. 16. Fulham (LW-16) Steve Sidwell had given Fulham the lead, but they looked anything but home and cooled in their game with West Brom. As the game headed into injury time the questions was, could the Cottagers hold on for the victory, the answer was no. 17. Hull City (LW-1Cool Hull was unable to protect a 1-0 lead over fellow promoted side Cardiff City and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw. Hull, as the home side, slightly edged the game but a draw was a fair result for both sides in the end. 18. Crystal Palace (LW-17) Things were going to be hard enough for the promoted side at Old Trafford but their fates were sealed when Kagisho Dikgacoi was sent off just before half leading to a Robin van Persie penalty spot goal. There was no way back into what ended up being a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United. 19. West Bromwich Albion (LW-19) The Baggies looked headed towards another defeat and their fourth consecutive scoreless game when Gareth McAuley fired home two minutes into stoppage time for his teams first goal and second point of the season. West Brom had been piling on the pressure leading up to the tying marker. 20. Sunderland (LW-20) Bottom of the table with only one point, Sunderland fell 3-1 to Arsenal in a game that saw their manager Paolo Di Canio sent off. The point of contention was a Jozy Altidore goal that was disallowed due to a foul called on Arsenal when Sunderland felt they should have been given advantage. Custom New Orleans Pelicans Jerseys . While he was away, it was the division-rival Baltimore Orioles conducting a little business of their own, scooping up Ubaldo Jimenez on Monday evening to a reported four-year, $50-million contract. Toronto Star baseball columnist and TSN contributor Richard Griffin joins me for a half-hour of talk on manager John Gibbons strategy when it comes to his starting pitching and struggling bullpen, whether Brett Lawrie will see increased action at second base and Jose Bautistas great start to the season. Give it a listen here. GIBBONS LIKES HIS OFFENCE The Blue Jays entered Thursdays action with 166 runs scored in 34 games. Thats an average of almost 4.9 runs per game, good for fourth in the majors. Manager John Gibbons is in his seventh season, over two tenures skipping the Blue Jays. He believes this is the strongest offence hes had. "I would think this is probably the top," said Gibbons. "My last go around here we were really strong in the pitching department. We had some good offences but I dont think it equaled what we have here now. You need that in the American League. You need to be able to slug it out." Toronto boasts the league leader in on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) and walks. Hes Jose Bautista. Bautista and Colby Rasmus, with nine home runs each, are amongst the league leaders. Melky Cabreras 48 hits are the most in the sport this season. As a team, the Blue Jays rank second in home runs (44); second in slugging percentage (.432) and third in on-base plus slugging percentage (.761). ENCARNACION DISCUSSES FRANCISCO General manager Alex Anthopoulos has credited Edwin Encarnacion with helping to lure Juan Francisco to the Blue Jays. "Ive known Juan from a long time ago, he was playing with me in Cincinnati," said Encarnacion. "When he was young, I was older in here and hes one of my best friends. He had a couple of more (options) to go so I called him and asked him to come here because they can give him the opportunity to play here at this level. Darius Miller Jersey. " Francisco, 26, hit 18 home runs last season while playing with the Braves and Brewers but was cut by Milwaukee late in spring training. He signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on April 2 and began the year at Triple-A Buffalo. His contract was selected on April 20 to replace Adam Lind, who went on the disabled list with a back injury. Aside from the opportunity the Blue Jays could afford him, Encarnacion was pressed Francisco to come to Toronto out of fear he would sign with another American League East team. The division, specifically the ballparks in the division, are friendly to power-hitting left-handed bats. "Thats why I dont want him to go to another team, like Tampa or another team," said Encarnacion. SANTOS STARTING FROM SCRATCH Sergio Santos pitched a scoreless eighth inning in Wednesdays 10-0 win over the Phillies. Thanks to the big lead it was a pressure-free inning. After two-straight outings featuring blown saves and three on the season, Santos is in the process of rebuilding his confidence. "It was nice to execute on the things that I wanted to do as far as locating my fastball, moving it in and out," said Santos. "It was nice. Its a nice first step, hopefully in the right direction." His stuff is good. Santos has struck out 18 hitters in 10 1/3 innings. The problem is hes walked nine and of the 12 hits hes allowed, three have been home runs. Santos expects more of himself. "Hopefully I can build off what happened (Wednesday) night and never look back again," he said. LAWRIE UPDATE Brett Lawrie took part in batting practice and fielded ground balls before Thursdays game. He left the fourth inning of Monday nights game in Philadelphia with lingering tightness in his right hamstring. Fridays game against the Angels may be more hopeful than reality. Lawries more likely to return on the weekend. ' ' '
