Renewing your NBI Clearance has become a more convenient process thanks to the NBI's online services. There are generally two ways to renew, depending on when your last clearance was issued: the "Quick Renewal" option and the standard renewal process.
1. Quick Renewal (No Personal Appearance)
This is the fastest and most convenient method, designed for those who have a clearance issued from October 16, 2016, onwards and have no changes to their personal information (like a change in civil status). The key benefit is that you don't need to visit an NBI office.
Here's how it works:
Go to the NBI Clearance Online Services website: Visit the official portal and log in to your account.
Click "NBI Clearance Quick Renewal": On your dashboard, look for this option.
Enter your old NBI ID number: You will need to provide the NBI ID number from your previous clearance.
Fill out the delivery form: Since this option includes door-to-door delivery, you'll need to provide your complete and accurate address.
Pay the fee: The fee for the Quick Renewal is slightly higher than a regular application because it includes the delivery charge. You can pay through various online and over-the-counter channels.
Wait for delivery: The renewed NBI Clearance will be delivered to your address within a few days (the timeframe may vary depending on your location).
2. Standard Renewal with Personal Appearance
This method is for those who do not qualify for the Quick Renewal. This includes applicants with clearances issued before October 16, 2016, or those who have had changes to their personal information. The process is similar to a new application, but it's typically faster since your biometric data is already in the system.
Here's how to do it:
Go to the NBI Clearance Online Services website: Log in to your account.
Schedule an appointment: Book a new appointment at an NBI branch of your choice.
Pay the fee: Pay the standard NBI Clearance fee using the reference number generated after booking your appointment.
Appear on your scheduled date: On the day of your appointment, go to the NBI branch. You'll need to bring your reference number and at least two valid government-issued IDs.
Get your biometrics verified: The NBI staff will verify your details and capture new biometrics if necessary, but the process is generally faster than for a first-time applicant.
Claim your clearance: If there are no issues, your renewed NBI Clearance will be released on the same day.
Important Reminders for Renewal:
Online Appointment is Mandatory: Even for a standard renewal, you must schedule an appointment online. Walk-ins are not accepted.
Validity: The NBI Clearance is valid for six months to one year from the date of issuance.
NBI ID Number: Keep your old NBI ID number handy, as it is crucial for both renewal processes.
For Filipinos Abroad: If you are outside the Philippines, you can still renew your NBI Clearance through the Philippine Embassy or Consulate nearest you. They will guide you on the process, which usually involves obtaining an NBI Form No. 5, getting your fingerprints taken, and sending the documents to a representative in the Philippines to process the renewal for you.  |
